Side project #1 Actual real time tracking of the Oxford Tube

Last weekend I was chatting with my best friend about how bad services can be. I myself am a frequent passenger of the Oxford Tube, travelling back and forth between Oxford and London. I would plan my journey using City mapper or Google maps and start making my way to the nearest bus stop according to the app. However, very often I would find that the bus has not arrived at the time stated or that it left a few minutes too soon. Then, I would just stand at the bus stop hoping that the next one would be coming soon. You could say just take a look at the timetable or text the number at the bus stop to see when it’s coming. But they are often inaccurate.

Therefore, I am starting on this project to help with two main objectives: to help people plan their journeys better and minimise the time waiting at a bus stop starting with just the Oxford Tube. I’m working on a hypothesis but I have started writing down some questions to find out what the real pain points are for bus riders. Here is the website: Link
