Nike, a sportswear brand, with the message “just do it”. A slogan that embodies the brand of Nike but Simply means doing something in a straightforward manner. This part of the phrase connotes this – is what your desire is and then the action to make it happen. Turning emotional national conversation into a movement embodied by the brand. For example, using Colin Kaepernick, former N.F.L. quarterback who inspired a player protest movement , creating a campaign based on the movement he started. Nike has a tendency to do this but did they miss a historical moment? Alaa Salah is a Sudanese student and anti-government protester. She gained world-wide media attention from a picture of her taken by Lana Haroun that went viral in April 2019. The image of Salah has been dubbed as “Woman in White” or “Lady Liberty” of Sudan. Wearing the Sudanese traditional dress known as the tobe, but was wearing nike shoes. SHOCKING! I want understand what wearing such shoes means.

Nike is a symbol of culture. The youth. I have found many pictures of this moment being taken but noticing this has almost told me another story. Here is a link to the prototype of incorporating the nike brand into a design when represents the revoltion: https://xd.adobe.com/view/1316b148-eaa9-4a6f-49eb-452be8bbcdfe-6527/screen/e21df1b5-512e-4dea-8acd-a70f887b4760/Stand-4-Sudan

However, after trying to incorporate the brand I felt like there was a disconnect between the story and the brand so I didn’t carry on with that idea.
